Myra Canyon Trestle Ride Is A Must For Your Kelowna Adventures
- October 12, 2025
By R. Paul Dhillon - Editor DESIBUZZCanada
The Okanagan jewel Kelowna has so much to offer for tourists, everything from winery tours to boat rides and water fun on the majestic lake Okanagan to mountain top views of its paradise valleys.
And while we did it all during our short two day trip, from wine tours at two of the premium wineries - Mission Hill and Summer Hill (really liked this winery as it was something unique) to downtown lakeside Kelowna walks and restaurant meals, from apple-peach orchards to wondrous look-out spots but the absolute highlight of our trip with UK Bhangra star Sukshinder Shinda was a trip high up the mountains to Myra Canyon thanks to our gracious host and Kelowna expert Mandeep Dosanjh - yes his family hails from Diljit Dosanjh's birthplace of Dosanjh Kalan and in fact, Diljit was born only few houses down from Mandeep's family's ancestral home in the famed village.
Back to the amazing place that is Myra Canyon which has been re-imagined from the old Kettle Valley railway line that used trestle bridges and tunnels cut out from mountains to bring in lumber from the mountainous terrain in the old days.
Now it's a fantastic 12 km (24 km both ways) route through these breathtaking mountains and valleys with numerous trestle bridges and tunnels.
And the best way to explore this magical area is by renting bikes (go with electric) and riding like the wind in what I can only describe as an amazing life experience. I was totally floored by it and it's something I'll do again when I visit Kelowna!
