Fatal Fire In Surrey Claims One Life As IHIT Over Investigation

One person is dead after a fatal fire in Surrey which is deemed suspicious as the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over conduct of the investigation into the early Monday morning house fire in which the body of a deceased man was found. Shortly after 7:00 am on January 12, SPS officers responded to calls of a house fire in the 12700 block 56 Avenue to assist SFS with road closures. During their efforts to extinguish the fully engulfed residence and search it for any victims, SFS members discovered the body of an adult individual, who was deceased.

SURREY – One person is dead after a fatal fire in Surrey which is deemed suspicious as the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over conduct of the investigation into the early Monday morning house fire in which the body of a deceased man was found.
Shortly after 7:00 am on January 12, SPS officers responded to calls of a house fire in the 12700 block 56 Avenue to assist SFS with road closures. During their efforts to extinguish the fully engulfed residence and search it for any victims, SFS members discovered the body of an adult individual, who was deceased.

IHIT has now taken over the investigation and are working in partnership with SPS to complete priority investigative tasks.
Investigators are looking for anyone who has information or dashcam, CCTV footage from the area of the 12700 block 56 Avenue between the hours of 5:00 am and 7:00 am on January 12 to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
