Fan made Rs. 52 crore (over $8.7 million US) over the first three days of release in India and has made additional Rs. 62 crore in the rest of the world with a worldwide take of over Rs. 114 crore ($19 million).

MUMBAI – The Shah Rukh Khan starrer Fan was a big hit with his legion of fans across India and the world, opening in India with Rs. 52 crore (over $8.7 million US) over the first three days of release in India

It has made over Rs. 60 crore (over $10 million US) over the first three days of release in the rest of the world with a worldwide take of over Rs. 114 crore ($19 million).

Fan has put up strong numbers Worldwide and easily making the film the highest film of the year beating the 78 crore of Airlift. In terms off all time collections it is the 11th highest ever and fourth highest for a Shahrukh Khan starrer.

It is a great achievement for a film of this genre as no film of this sort has ever even got close to 100 crore. The film is a little lower than films like Kick and Singham Returns but higer than the likes of Jai Ho and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The highest worldwide opening weekend is still Dhoom 3 at 193 crore followed by Bajrangi Bhaijaan at 187 crore..

Fan has done very strong business in the cities especially the metros even though mass centres are lower comparatively but still good for the type of film Fan is as these type of films don't do 80 lakhs plus numbers in CP Berar and Rajasthan. Normally they are much lower but these have come due to the presence of star Shahrukh Khan and key is can they hold for the film to put up a very big final number.

The best figures are in the metros where the high collecting multiplexes are higher than Dilwale. Mumbai circuit has topped 5 crore nett while Mysore and West Bengal should both cross 1.25 crore nett. East Punjab is on the lower side at 1.75 crore nett plus and could have done better considering its a big holiday there and a huge multiplex presence, reported Box Office India.

The opening day for Fan was tremendous and the weekend numbers are phenomenal so the key to the continued rise in business during weekdays will determines how high it will go. Fan is an urban film so the question will be can it hold the big numbers and if so for how long as eventually there is a limited audience for an urban film.
