A well known Indo-Canadian gangster and the only surviving Dhaliwal brother has been charged in the September 2024 shooting in Langley. On June 3, IHIT arrested 41-year-old Barinder Singh Dhaliwal of Langley for his alleged involvement in the shooting that left one dead. The deceased was identified as 38-year-old Johnathan Hebrada-Walters, from Edmonton, Alberta. Hebrada-Walters was known to police and the shooting was believed to be a targeted event, linked to the BC gang conflict.

LANGLEY – A well known Indo-Canadian gangster and the only surviving Dhaliwal brother has been charged in the September 2024 shooting in Langley.

On June 3, IHIT arrested 41-year-old Barinder Singh Dhaliwal of Langley for his alleged involvement in the shooting.

On September 21, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Langley RCMP responded to shots fired in the area of 196 Street and 84 Avenue, Langley. Responding officers located two men suffering from gunshot wounds. 

One of the men succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other man, located at 208 Street and 78 Avenue, was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The deceased was identified as 38-year-old Johnathan Hebrada-Walters, from Edmonton, Alberta. Hebrada-Walters was known to police and the shooting was believed to be a targeted event, linked to the BC gang conflict.

On June 4, the BC Prosecution Service approved charges against Dhaliwal for possession of a loaded firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

“Today’s outcome is the result of teamwork between IHIT, Langley RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and CFSEU-BC, and their commitment to public safety,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.

Police said as this matter is now before the courts, no additional information will be released.
