SURREY – The family of a murdered Indo-Canadian man from Surrey are appealing to the public to help police catch their beloved’s killers.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is also requesting public assistance to further the investigation into the 2018 murder of Sumeet Randhawa.
On October 11, 2018 just before 2:00 pm, Surrey RCMP Frontline officers responded to the 6700 block of 130th Street for a male who had been shot.
Despite life-saving efforts by RCMP officers, BCEHS and the Surrey Fire Department, 30-year-old Randhawa was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police quickly identified occupants of a black Hummer H3 and blue Ford Focus as being involved in the homicide. Investigators recovered the black Hummer, however the blue Ford Focus remains outstanding and investigators are still working to identify the people responsible.
IHIT investigators continue to actively follow up on all investigative avenues but IHIT still needs public assistance to further the investigation.
Investigators believe that the incident was targeted and associated to the ongoing Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.
“We believe there are people who have information that will help us. We are appealing to those people, and to the friends and close associates of Mr Randhawa to contact IHIT,” said Detective Lara JANSEN of IHIT. “It is never too late to do the right thing.”
It is nearing the two-year anniversary of Randhawa’s murder. The dead man’s e family is also appealing for assistance from the public for information that may help solve his murder.
