An Indo-Canadian man has now been charged in relation to a late-night homicide in Abbotsford on Friday. On March 15 at 10:50 p.m., the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) were called to the 3400-block of Wagner Drive, after a report of an assault in progress. Members attended and located a woman, later identified as 41-year old Balwinder Kaur of Abbotsford, inside the residence suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. On March 16, 50-year old Jagpreet Singh of Abbotsford, the husband of Mrs. Kaur, was charged with second-degree murder.

ABBOTSFORD - An Indo-Canadian man has now been charged in relation to a late-night homicide in Abbotsford on Friday.

On March 15 at 10:50 p.m., the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) were called to the 3400-block of Wagner Drive, after a report of an assault in progress. Members attended and located a woman, later identified as 41-year old Balwinder Kaur of Abbotsford, inside the residence suffering from life-threatening stab wounds.

First responders attempted life-saving measures, but sadly, the woman died in hospital shortly thereafter. A man known to the victim was arrested on scene in relation to the incident. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation and is working closely in partnership with AbbyPD and the BC Coroners Service.

On March 16, 50-year old Jagpreet Singh of Abbotsford, the husband of Mrs. Kaur, was charged with second-degree murder.

"This was an isolated incident," says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. "IHIT will continue to work with AbbyPD over the coming days, not only to advance this investigation, but to support the community affected by this tragedy."
