Freak Tree-Fall Kills One Person In South Vancouver

Vancouver Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision in South Vancouver that claimed the life of one person. Officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls at around 5:15 p.m. for a tree that fell on a moving vehicle near Marine Way and River District Crossing. One person was trapped inside the vehicle and died.

VANCOUVER – A freak tree-fall has killed one person in South Vancouver Tuesday evening.
Vancouver Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision in South Vancouver that claimed the life of one person.

Officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls at around 5:15 p.m. for a tree that fell on a moving vehicle near Marine Way and River District Crossing. One person was trapped inside the vehicle and died.

Marine Way between Kerr Street and Boundary Road is closed while officers investigate.
Anyone with dash cam footage from the area between 5 and 6 p.m. is asked to call VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
