Calgary police have arrested and charged a young Indo-Canadian man after putting out a public call to help identify a suspect believed linked to a reported sexual assault on a CTrain platform. CALGARY - Calgary police have arrested and charged a young Indo-Canadian man after putting out a public call to help identify a suspect believed linked to a reported sexual assault on a CTrain platform.

Police have charged Perjot Sindhu, 23, with one count of sexual assault. He will appear in court on Aug. 1.

Police said the assault took place on June 7 at approximately 11:15 p.m. as the victim was in the process of renting an e-scooter at the 8th Street S.W. CTrain station. As she was renting the e-scooter, an unknown man grabbed her from behind and “proceeded to touch her in a sexual manner without consent.”

Several tips from the public allowed them to identify Sindhu in relation to the assault, police said.

 “Thank you to the public for bringing forward information to help this investigation,” Calgary police said in a statement.
