The sangat of Akal Academy Surrey honoured the life and legacy of Sant Baba Iqbal Singh Ji at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurudwara on Sunday March 6th. The program started with Kirtan by well known Bhai Maninder Singh Ji Sri Nagar Wale followed by a performance by Dr. Angrej Singh.

SURREY - The sangat of Akal Academy Surrey honoured the life and legacy of Sant Baba Iqbal Singh Ji at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurudwara on Sunday March 6th. The program started with Kirtan by well known Bhai Maninder Singh Ji Sri Nagar Wale followed by a performance by Dr. Angrej Singh.

There were also speeches from Avtar Singh Gill, Dr Gurvinder Singh Dhaliwal, Board Member Gurpreet Singh Thind, and MP Sukh Dhaliwal. The speakers briefly touched on the legacy of Sant Baba Iqbal Singh Ji and his accomplishments and about his close friend and accomplice Dr Khem Singh Gill along with their mentors Sant Attar Singh Ji and Sant Teja Singh Ji. 

President, Dr. Bhurji also thanked all the Sangat for attending and paid his respect. Several lower mainland Sikh societies and committees were also in attendance. 

Sant Baba Iqbal Singh Ji was born in 1926 and while studying in university was blessed with the Sangat of Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji who became their mentor and leader. By following their lead, Baba Ji and Dr. Khem Singh Gill discovered the land where Baru Sahib is built today. Starting from a small school, the organization now boasts 129 schools in India, 2 universities, and a hospital.
